Gorenja Gomila is a settlement on the right bank of the river Krka in the Šentjernej municipality in southeastern Slovenia. The area was traditionally part of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Jugovzhodna Slovenija statistical region.[2]
Trial excavations in 1988 on the Golo site to the south of the main settlement, confirmed the existence of a Late Bronze Age burial ground on the location. Older literature also refers to Roman graves.[3] The foundations of an 8 m wide Roman road with a possible crossing over the river Krka have also been uncovered in the settlement.[4]
